Perplexity launches Personal Computer, a local agent for Mac

Perplexity introduced Personal Computer on 17 April 2026, an extension of its Computer agent that runs on a user’s own device. The Mac version could act on local files and installed applications as well as on the web and connected services.

Why it mattered The release moved Perplexity’s agent from browser and cloud tasks into direct control of a desktop, a step competing agents had mostly avoided.
