    Trump and six AI executives signed the voluntary White House Accord on Super Intelligence, which Trump called morally binding. It commits signatories to internal capability controls, an empowered safety team, an independent external auditor and a board committee.

    xAI limited Grok’s image-editing tools to paid subscribers on 9 January 2026 after manipulated images of women, and in some cases apparent minors, in revealing clothing spread on X. On 14 January it blocked edits placing real people in revealing clothing.

  3. Tesla starts a limited robotaxi service in Austin

    Tesla began a limited robotaxi service in Austin, Texas on 22 June 2025 with about 10 Model Y cars running Full Self-Driving software and a human safety monitor in the front passenger seat. Riders and reporters recorded wrong-way driving and drop-offs in intersections.

  5. Tesla shows its first Optimus humanoid robot prototype

    At Tesla’s AI Day in Palo Alto on 30 September 2022, Elon Musk and the engineering team showed a working prototype of the Optimus humanoid robot, which walked onto the stage and waved. The 2021 event had shown only a dancer in a costume.

  6. Tesla sends Full Self-Driving Beta to a small group of drivers

    Tesla began sending a Full Self-Driving beta update on 20 October 2020 to a small group of drivers it called expert and careful, adding city-street steering, turns and lane selection to existing highway Autopilot features.
