    TSMC introduced its A13 manufacturing process at its North America Technology Symposium on 22 April 2026, describing it as a shrink of the A14 node with about 6% area savings and design rules compatible with A14. Production was set for 2029.

    President Joe Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act on 9 August 2022. It authorized roughly 280 billion dollars in spending and appropriated 52.7 billion dollars in direct funding for domestic semiconductor manufacturing, research, and workforce development.

  4. Nvidia agrees to buy Arm from SoftBank for $40 billion

    Nvidia and SoftBank Group announced on 13 September 2020 a definitive agreement for Nvidia to buy the chip designer Arm for about $40 billion in cash and stock. Nvidia said it would keep Arm’s licensing model and build a research center in Cambridge, England.
