  1. Claude for Government is now generally available

    Claude for Government is generally available to federal and state agencies. It runs in a FedRAMP High authorized environment and has been in public beta since July. Claude Code CLI and Claude for Microsoft 365 entered early access alongside it.

  2. Anthropic releases Claude Sonnet 5.5

    On 28 September 2026 Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5 at $2 input and $10 output per million tokens, with 1M-token context and 128K max output. It runs on the Claude Platform, AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry, and GitHub added it to Copilot the same day.

  3. Build plugins for Claude

    Anthropic opened a developer portal for plugins for Claude. Plugins package MCP connectors, Agent Skills, or both. Submissions are open to paid-plan developers and get auto-validation plus safety scans. Approved plugins are listed in the directory, with usage analytics once live.

  4. Claude Marketplace unites plugins, agents, and partners

    Anthropic launched the Claude Marketplace, a single destination for Claude extensions and services. Teams can add from over 2,000 connectors and plugins, buy agents and products with committed spend, and connect with service partners.

  5. Anthropic launches Claude Opus 5.5

    On 22 September 2026 Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5, an efficiency-focused update aimed at agentic coding and large migrations, priced well below the Opus 5 flagship.

  6. Anthropic redesigns Claude Projects around one conversation

    Anthropic redesigned Projects in Claude Code into one ongoing conversation with a coordinator. Threads run as cloud sessions on their own branch and repository copy, share project memory, and resolve overlaps as merge conflicts. The beta reaches select Pro and Max cloud users.

  7. Claude Cowork and chat are now one Claude

    Anthropic merged Claude Cowork and chat into a single Claude. Claude now works out what a task needs, so Cowork and Design work from any conversation. The rollout starts on Pro and Max plans, with Claude Design now working inside conversations.

  8. Claude Cowork gets its own built-in browser

    Claude Cowork on the desktop app gained a built-in browser. Claude opens its own browser in the side panel to navigate sites, read pages, and fill forms. It is rolling out to Pro, Max, and Team plans, separate from the user’s own browser.

  9. Claude in Chrome is generally available

    Claude in Chrome is now generally available on every paid Claude plan. Claude can take actions autonomously in the browser instead of needing approval for each one. A safety classifier validates every action, and probes screen web content for prompt injections first.

    Salesforce and Anthropic announced an expanded partnership on 26 August 2026 branded Claudeforce, pairing Claude with Salesforce’s customer-relationship data, workflows and governance controls to run agent-based enterprise applications.

    Claude’s memory now works the same in chat and in Claude Cowork’s cloud sessions. Topics are added as you chat instead of summarized after the fact. Everything sits in files under Topics, readable, editable, and deletable. Sensitive topics stay off by default.

    Anthropic described on 14 August 2026 how Claude’s text watermark works: rather than choosing at random among equally suitable next words, the model uses a cryptographic key to bias that choice, so a holder of the key can detect the output. No user information is embedded.

    Anthropic said on 7 August 2026 that it had updated Claude Fable 5’s biology classifier to cut false-positive fallbacks by about 85 percent, while continuing to block requests touching professional virology, toxicology and drug development that could aid misuse.

    Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 on 24 July 2026 at the same price as its predecessor, $5 and $25 per million input and output tokens. The company reported roughly double Claude Opus 4.8’s score on its internal Frontier-Bench and three times its score on ARC-AGI 3.

  15. Think through hard problems in voice mode

    Voice mode now runs on Claude Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku, up from Haiku alone. It reaches connected tools like Gmail and Slack and adds many more languages. The update is in beta for chat users on mobile, desktop, and web.

  16. US lifts export restrictions on Anthropic’s top Claude models

    The United States lifted export restrictions on Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 models on 30 June 2026, the company said. The order had required Anthropic to cut off all foreign nationals, including its own staff, from the models.

  17. Anthropic releases Claude Sonnet 4.5

    Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 4.5 on 29 September 2025 at the same price as Sonnet 4, $3 and $15 per million input and output tokens. The company said it could hold a single coding task for about 30 hours without help, against roughly 7 hours for Claude Opus 4.

    Anthropic released Claude 3 Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku on 4 March 2024, three models spanning a range of speed and capability, with a 200,000-token context window and image input. Anthropic reported that Opus matched or exceeded GPT-4 on several public benchmarks.
