  1. Reflection AI launches Beam

    On 5 October 2026 Reflection AI introduced Beam, its 501B-parameter open-weight model with 23B active parameters and 1M tokens of effective context. Beam stays in final red-teaming; weights will follow this month.

  2. Google releases Gemini 4 Argon

    On 30 September 2026 Google launched Gemini 4 Argon, a frontier model for software engineering and cybersecurity defense. It is rolling out first to trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program, with wider access to follow.

  3. Anthropic releases Claude Sonnet 5.5

    On 28 September 2026 Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5 at $2 input and $10 output per million tokens, with 1M-token context and 128K max output. It runs on the Claude Platform, AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Foundry, and GitHub added it to Copilot the same day.

  4. OpenAI cancels GPT-6.1 Astra over safety concerns

    OpenAI scrapped the GPT-6.1 Astra launch on 28 September 2026. Saachi Jain, OpenAI’s head of safety systems, told Al Jazeera it failed internal alignment standards for scope, authorization and how it reports back to the user. First reported by the Wall Street Journal.

  5. Google releases Gemini 3.7 Flash

    Google released Gemini 3.7 Flash on 13 August 2026, describing improvements to the model’s core reasoning. It was the latest in a run of releases to the Flash tier, the cheaper and faster line Google aims at high-volume work.

  6. DeepSeek releases V4-Flash for general availability

    DeepSeek made deepseek-v4-flash generally available on 31 July 2026, reporting that it substantially exceeded the V4-Pro-Preview across nine agent benchmarks on the same architecture, with the gains from further post-training. Pricing held at $0.14 and $0.28 per million tokens.

  7. Anthropic releases Claude Opus 5

    Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 on 24 July 2026 at the same price as its predecessor, $5 and $25 per million input and output tokens. The company reported roughly double Claude Opus 4.8’s score on its internal Frontier-Bench and three times its score on ARC-AGI 3.

  8. Anthropic releases Claude Opus 4.7

    Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.7 on 16 April 2026, an upgrade to Opus 4.6 for software engineering. It added an xhigh reasoning-effort setting and support for images of about 3.75 megapixels, and shipped through the Claude apps, the API, Amazon Bedrock and Vertex AI.
