The European Union’s AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024, twenty days after publication in the Official Journal. The law sorts AI systems into four risk tiers, bans some uses outright, and phases in over two years, with most high-risk rules applying from August 2026.

US lifts export restrictions on Anthropic’s top Claude models
The United States lifted export restrictions on Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 models on 30 June 2026, the company said. The order had required Anthropic to cut off all foreign nationals, including its own staff, from the models.
